Roasted Royal Purple Cauliflower with Garlic & Thyme

It’s the 2018 Red Carpet Menu for Oscar®!
For Darkest Hour, it’s Darkest ‘Flower!

This dish is so very festive, what with it’s bright colors and delicious flavors, which is counter to the movie it honors. Darkest Hour is a dire film based on real events. What are the odds that two films in the same year are both about the same exact moment in time but from different perspectives? And both start with a “D”? Ha!

Well… this “Darkest ‘Flower” is so pretty. There’s no taste difference that I can detect between this purple cauliflower (chosen because it’s literally the DARKEST ‘FLOWER – haha) and the more common white variety. It certainly makes a veggie plate become the star of the meal.

The flavor that bursts through with the garlic becoming nutty and the thyme adding a brightness that works perfectly with the cauliflower… it’s addictive! The first time I ever saw purple cauliflower, I thought it was fake. There are other varieties as well like green and orange… hmmm… that combo might be wonderful for St. Patrick’s Day… but I digress. This cauliflower is SPECTACULAR!!

Something just as spectacular is Gary Oldman’s performance in Darkest Hour. He totally transforms and is barely recognizable as Winston Churchill. He’s been winning at all the award shows. I believe he’ll win the Best Actor award on Sunday! Go Gary!

We’re moving on to the salad!

Happy Oscars!
