Outlandish Oatlander! Scottish Oatcakes to Celebrate Outlander Season 3!

Annette Zito, KitchAnnette™

  • • 2 cups rolled oats + 1 tbsp
  • • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • • 1/4 tsp salt
  • • 4 tbsp butter melted
  • • 1/2 cup water

  • Add 2 cups oats to a blender/food processor and pulse briefly to create a finer texture.
  • In a bowl, mix oats, baking soda, and salt. Incorporate the butter.
  • Mix in the water a little at a time to create a stiff dough.
  • Dust rolling surface with remaining oats and roll out dough about 1/2” thick. Use a biscuit cutter (or the top of a glass) to cut out rounds.
  • Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!

You can use Scottish or Irish-style steel cut oats and skip pulsing them in the food processor/blender.
